Chennai, Jan 10 (): For this Pongal/Sankranti, movie fans in South India are in for a real treat as four of the biggest movies are to be released for the festival.
Four movies that are to be released for Pongal and Sankranti are : Ajith’s Tamil movie “Veeram”, Vijay’s Tamil film “Jilla”, Mahesh Babu’s Telugu movie “1 Nenokkadine” and Ram Charan’s much delayed and awaited Telugu film “Yevadu”.
Among them, three movies Jilla, Veeram and 1 Nenokkadine are releasing today (January 10) whereas Yevadu is a solo release that releases on January 12, 2014.
The response to Jilla and Veeram have been really positive. Both the films are releasing in a good number of screens. Jilla will be shown in over 1,000 screens worldwide and Veeram is releasing in more than 900 screens. Response to advance booking for both the films has been fantastic.
Whereas, Mahesh Babu’s “1 Nenokkadine” is releasing in a record number of screens worldwide on 10 January. The film is releasing in around 1350 screens worldwide. Its India screen count stands at 1140+, which is an all-time record for a Telugu film, and the film will be shown in over 200 screens in overseas markets. Anyhow, after the release of Yevadu, the number of screens will be reduced.
“1 Nenokkadine” carries a lot of expectations as the film is deemed as an action cum psychological thriller. The film is made on a big budget of Rs 70 crore and is hyped to be the costliest Telugu film ever made.
The views for the teaser of “1 Nenokkadine” that was uploaded on YouTube on December 31, 2013 has reached the 2.5 million mark.
In the recent times, big actors have been avoiding clashes between their films, so, they release their movies in different dates. Traders say releasing movies on the same date might eat up each other’s revenues and affect the collections.
2014 Pongal is all set to face a big box office clash between Jilla, Veeram and 1 Nenokkadine.
