Chennai,Jan 7 (): Jilla, the Pongal bonanza starring Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Mollywood Superstar Mohanlal is all ready and set to release on January 10,coming Friday,2014.
With the film ready to hit the theatres and treat the fans of Vijay, Mohanlal shared his experience in working with Vijay and the film.
Over to Mohanlal’s interview:
On agreeing to star in Jilla..
The first reason for my agreeing to work in Jilla was Vijay. Next is the reputed banner Super Good Films. To top it, director RT Nesan was literally behind me when I was busy doing shoots for Malayalam films. I liked the story and the role offered to me was pretty much strong and appealing.
You are playing father to Vijay in Jilla? Don’t you think it would affect your image?
No such question will arise in people who would watch the film. I play the role with the respect and valour symbolic of Madurai.
Vijay has a huge fan base in Tamil Nadu. Similarly, you enjoy a massive fan following in Kerala. Do you think Jilla would appeal to the fans in both the States?
Like Vijay has a huge fan base in Tamil Nadu, he also has a good number of fans in Kerala. Jilla will offer a sweet treat for Pongal for both his and my fans.
Tell us about Tamil Nadu,Kerala fans.
The people of Kerala and Tamil Nadu have a good relationship and have culture and sentiments in common. This relationship is more than 2000 years old. No can can deny it. That is why Tamil films earn good revenue in Kerala while Malayalam films earn good business in Tamil Nadu.
Please tell us about your friendship with Vijay..
Vijay is one who became a Superstar right in his young age. But, he carries it off very humbly without any airs. He is hard-working, punctual, disciplined and sincere in his work. That is why he has attained such heights in Tamil film industry with innumerable fans. We were initially keeping very quiet in the sets. As time went,we became closer, jovial and cracked jokes. Our friendship has grown to new levels where I visit his home with my family and he comes home with his family.
Did you watch Jilla?
I watched Jilla along with my wife. The dance number – ’Sivanum sakthiyum serndha Jilla padam massuda’ where we both have danced has been well-appreciated by all. My wife, an open critic liked the film very much.
We hear that you are releasing Jilla in Kerala?
Yes,am releasing the film in Kerala in about 300 screens. Am definite the day Jilla releases in Kerala will be Onam festival for Keralites.
