World Kabaddi Cup 2013 from November 30 to December 14, 2013

Chandigarh, Nov 18 (): The World Kabaddi Cup 2013 will be held from November 30, 2013 to December 14, 2013. It is the fourth edition of the World Kabaddi Cup.

The tournament will take place in Punjab, Pakistan, whereas the tournament will be organized by the Government of Punjab.

Approved at a budget of Rs 20 crore, the 14-day long tournament will have 11 participating nations in the men’s tournament and the women’s tournament will have 6 participating nations in it.

The inaugural function is planned to take place at the multipurpose stadium in Lahore while the title clash will take place at Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad. The league matches would be played in 6 stadiums – Punjab University Stadium (Lahore), Outdoor Stadium (Multan), Iqbal Stadium (Faisalabad), Sports Stadium (Nankana sb), Nawaz Shrief stadium (Hasilpur) and Kadafi Stadium (Lahore).

The opening and closing ceremonies this fourth edition of Kabaddi World Cup tournament will be telecast live throughout the country and in Canada, USA and UK also.

In the men’s team, 11 teams including India, Argentina, USA, UK, Canada, Pakistan, Seirra Leone, Iran, Scotland, Kenya and Denmark would participate whereas in the women’s section India, USA, UK, Turkmenistan, Denmark and Kenya would participate.

In the men’s category, winners would get Rs two crore, with Rs one crore for runner-up and Rs 51 lakh for third position. Participating teams would get Rs 15 lakh each.

In the women’s category, the winners’ prize money has been doubled. The winning team will get Rs one crore while team finishing second and third would get Rs 51 lakh and Rs 25 lakh respectively.

The state government has committed to make sure dope-free kabaddi matches and for this purpose dope test would be mandatory for each Kabaddi player. The sports authorities said that any player found guilty in dope test would be banned and every participating team has been asked to conduct dope test of its each player before the start of tournament also.
