New Delhi, Nov 7 (): India’s leading SUV maker, Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the entry-level ‘W4′ model of its popular sport utility vehicle, the XUV500 at a price of Rs. 10.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
M&M executive director and president, Pawan Goenka said, “In spite of being an entry- level model of the XUV500, the W4 model is technology laden and with this launch, we aim to attract sedan and compact SUV buyers who wish to upgrade to the XUV500. No other SUV would offer such features at this price.”
The company claimed that it was making the sports utility vehicle more affordable to buyers with small changes in features based on feedback.
The W4 is powered by a 140bhp 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Engine power is transmitted to the front wheels through a six-speed gear box transmission. The engine churns out a maximum power output of 140bhp and 330Nm of top torque. Mahindra has offered the engine with the 5th generation Variable Geometry turbo charger. The company claimed that the vehicle sprints to 60kmph from standstill in just 5.4 seconds. The XUV500 W4 offers an impressive fuel economy of 15kmpl.
The other feature, the micro hybrid technology from Mahindra will switch off the ignition if the vehicle has been stationary for more than five seconds. The vehicle comes with LEDs, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), side impact beams, Dual Airbags, crash protection with crumple zones, Twin HVAC, power steering, power adjustable ORVMs, all wheel disc brakes, remote central locking system.
Other features include 6-way adjustable Driver seats, Integrated Music system with CD/MP3 & with 4 Speakers and Fully foldable 2nd & 3rd row seats.
Mahindra & Mahindra has priced the vehicle new XUV 500 W4 variant at Rs. 10.83 lakhs only. The Sports Utility Vehicle, Mahindra W4, is estimated to compete with the Ford Ecosport and Renault Duster which have a major role in the compact SUV market.
