New Delhi, Nov 7 (): Apple Inc.’s flagship smartphone, iPhone 5s, went out of stock within 24 hours of launch in India. The top smartphone Apple iPhone 5s went on sale in India on November 1, just ahead of Diwali.
The iPhone 5s and 5c went on sale on the same day. While the “cheaper” iPhone 5c was thought to be the highly anticipated device, it was the iPhone 5s that overtook the sales of iPhone 5c. Reports say, the iPhone 5s is already sold out across the country and retailers are asking Apple for emergency replacements. Some sources say that the new stock is likely to reach these retailers in the next two days.
Retailers such as PlanetM, UniverCell, Future Group and The MobileStore have also disclosed that the iPhone 5s is out of stock. But, they still have iPhone 5c units.
Trade estimates say about 30,000 units were launched in India, in which about 6,000 devices were iPhone 5S models.
Bharti Airtel, India’s largest mobile phone operator, and RCom, the third largest, began selling the smartphones through bundled offers on November 1 and 2, respectively. Retail chains began selling the device on November 1.

RCom’s bundle deal offers the 16GB iPhone 5s and 5c at Rs 2,999 and Rs 2,599 EMI options respectively, with zero down payment.
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel has given the iPhone 5S and 5C Indian clients with monthly rental plans that would effectively reduce the cost by Rs 12,000 over a year.
Reliance Communications is proposing the smartphone for Rs 2,999 per month for a contract period of 24 months. The offer includes the cost of the handset, unlimited local and STD calls, SMS, national roaming and 3G data.
