Chennai, Oct 23 (): Arya-Nayantara’s “Raja Rani” is still rocking at the box office in spite of new releases. After completing its successful 25-day run, reports say, “Raja Rani” has collected around Rs 25 crore and has become the third highest grossing Tamil film of 2013, after “Vishwaroopam” and “Singam 2.”
Released with huge expectations, Raja Rani garnered positive reviews from the critics. It was followed by good word-of-mouth from audience. It has done remarkable business in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and other places as well as in the overseas markets. Even after 25 days, the film is still performing well in “A” centres.
With no big releases till next week, the Arya-Nayantara starrer is expected to run successfully in theatres. But, the release of Deepavali movies such as Ajith’s “Arrambam”, Karthi’s “All in all Alagu Raja” and Vishal’s “Pandiya Nadu” might affect the run of “Raja Rani” and its business might get closed soon.
The innovative promotions, trailers and the songs had set a positive pre-release buzz for Raja Rani. Positive word of mouth, after the film’s release has also helped immensely to rake in good collections at the box office.
Director Atlee has won praises for giving out an impressive film that entertains the audience. Popular directors Shankar and Lingusamy, actors Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan, Vijay and many others have appreciated the movie.
Raja Rani is getting ready for screening at the ongoing Mumbai Film Festival. The movie will be screened for the larger audience at the 15th edition of the Mumbai Film Festival on 24th October, at Cinemax Versova at 8.30 pm.
Raja Rani stars Arya, Nayantara, Jai and Nazriya Nazim. It is the story of a couple, who marry against their wishes and fall in love gradually with time. Santhanam, Sathyaraj and others are in the cast. GV Prakash Kumar has scored music while George W Williams has handled the camera.
