Mumbai, Oct 21 (TruthDive): Akshay Kumar’s ”Boss” was released on October 16, on Wednesday, Bakridh, a national holiday. So, in its extended 5-day first weekend, the film has managed to collect 40.75 crore in the domestic box office.
Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Boss collected approx Rs 40.75 cr nett in its 5-day weekend [Wed to Sun]. Breakup: Wed 12.75 cr, Thu 8 cr, Fri 6 cr, Sat 6 cr, Sun 8 cr”.
The Akshay Kumar starrer was released amidst huge expectations. The film had hit songs, 5-day extended weekend at box office and fairly good reviews but the film failed to do show wonders at box office. Boss was expected to leap its way past the 100 crore mark in its first extended week, but the movie had found it too hard to make a good figure.
Boss opened well collecting 12.75 crore, but on the following days the collections witnessed a huge slide. Collecting 8 crore on Thursday and 6 crore on Friday, the collections for the film on Saturday were very low – touched only 6 crore. Due to India-Australia cricket match, the business showed little growth despite being a Saturday.
The Akshay Kumar starrer is dominating the single screen markets across the country and its collections from single screens has been much better than the multiplexes.
Made on a budget of Rs 50 crore, Boss was one of the most awaited releases of late. Helmed by Anthony D’Souza, the film also features Mithun Chakraborty, Danny Denzongpa, Johnny Lever, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shiv Pandit and Ronit Roy.
Boss is an action comedy and a complete masala entertainer. Being a remake of a Malayalam film, Pokkiri Raja, Boss has Akshay Kumar playing the lead role as a kind-hearted gangster while Mithun Chakraborty has done the role of his father. Shiv Pandit is playing Akshay Kumar’s younger brother and Aditi Rao Hydari is paired opposite him.
