Mumbai, Oct 4 (): Grand Masti has become the highest grossing adult comedy, of all time, by collecting Rs 100 crore gross worldwide and now in the domestic market the movie is nearing the 100 crore mark. By the end of the third week, the collections for the movie is rounded up to 99.02 crore nett.
Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#GrandMasti Week 3: Fri 1.45 cr, Sat 2.10 cr, Sun 2.65 cr, Mon 1.35 cr, Tue 1.31 cr, Wed 65 lacs, Thu 46 lacs. Grand total: 99.02 cr net”.
Grand Masti is a massive hit and is the biggest surprise of 2013 at box office. Made at a modest budget of 19 cr and 12 cr of P & A, the film is on the approach of crossing 100 cr nett in next couple of days. In fact, this is the cheapest film to cross 100 cr net.
Grand Masti collected 1.45 cr nett on 3rd Friday followed by 2.10 cr nett on 3rd Saturday and 2.65 cr nett on Sunday taking grand total by the end of the third weekend to 95.25 cr nett and now the film has collected 1.35 cr on 3rd Monday and 1.31 cr on 3rd Tuesday, 65 lakhs on Wednesday and 60 lakhs on Thursday taking total 3 week figure to 99. 02 cr nett.
The film is expected to cross 100 cr nett by Saturday if not on Friday and thus becoming most unusual member of 100 cr nett club. Film will finish with 102-103 cr nett lifetime total and this is 5th film in 2013 to enter the elite 100 crore club.
Directed by Indra Kumar, the adult comedy opened with a astounding nett Rs 12.51 crore on the opening day of its release. This made ‘Grand Masti’ the film with the 4th highest opening of the year after blockbusters Chennai Express, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Race 2, a remarkable achievement for an ‘A’ rated comedy.
Indra Kumar said the only surprise in the Grand Masti success was the way ladies took to this adult comedy. He added he just wanted people to have fun.
