Chennai, Sep 18 () : AirAsia to celebrate the achievement of flying 200 million passengers is offering one million free seats from Kuala Lumpur to all the routes it flies within Malaysia and on international routes.
Bookings began yesterday on its website and will close on September 22. Those who booked under this scheme can travel between January 27 to August 5 next year. Apart from these, low fares are introduced on the Chennai-Kochi- Tiruchirapalli-Bangalore and Kolkata routes to Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok for as low as Rs 3820.
Meanwhile, some agencies posing as authorized recruiting agencies of AirAsia India have sprung up. The airline has filed a police complaint against one such agency. The airline has not authorized any agency and does it directly. Vacancies are put in array, come and candidates are intimated through e-mail id [email protected]
Due to a change in rules by DGCA, an operating license has to be filed 90 days before the scheduled date it intends to fly. Evaluation of documents, inspection of aircrafts and review meetings totalling five will have to be done by the applicant before the permit is issued.
US Federal Aviation Administration audit of DGCA asked the regulator to bring in this rule. After the permit to operate, it has to seek a NOC from the civil aviation ministry. If the tasks are not completed by DGCA in 90 days, the permit will further get delayed.
AirAsia was hoping to fly in the holiday season in December-January when fares are high. CEO Chandilya is in talks with DGCA to prepare the documents. DGCA says that if everything is in order, it can issue the permit in one month’s time on receiving the applications.
After the ministry clears it, then AirAsia will be coordinating with DGCA. The idea is to quote 30% less fares and put punctuality and hygiene as priority. The airline expects first time fliers to get lured by low fares and to get this segment the airlines is studying their behaviour pattern.
