Mumbai, Sep 14 (): To the surprise of the trade experts, this week’s adult comedy Grand Masti has shined at the box office on the opening day, collecting 12.5 crore in the domestic markets.
The film’s opening day numbers and the response was indeed shocking. Circuits like Mumbai, Delhi/UP, East Punjab, (where the film was earlier banned), West Bengal, Rajasthan and Mysore made excellent business.
Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#GrandMasti *early trends* suggest 12.5 cr start on Friday… A grand start indeed… Expecting weekend to be in 37 cr to 40 cr range”.
Even though Grand Masti received bad to average reviews from the critics, the audiences have undoubtedly liked the film. The response to the movie on the opening day was over- whelming. The Indra Kumar directorial has made a massive opening with around 80-85% occupancy all over India.
Seeing the tremendous response Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Data pouring in… #GrandMasti is off to a grand start… Easily amongst the Top 5 openers of 2013 thus far… Incredible!”

Grand Masti is a sequel of the hit film, Masti, which was released in 2004. The comedy drama is said to have a double dose of humorous and funny dialogues. The film portrays women as nothing but absolute objects that need to be exploited to their utmost.
