Narendra Modi on his way to be named BJP’s PM candidate today

New Delhi, Sep 13 (): In spite of BJP veteran leader L K Advani threatening to quit the party earlier, leaders on the whole appeared backing Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi as the party’s PM candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

The BJP which cornered Advani, has no more hesitation in announcing the name of Narendra Modi to the highest post and is expected to make the formal declaration at the party’s board meeting today, said sources. “After talks are held, we will decide,” said BJP president Rajnath Singh. Showing determination in making possible negotiation on the issue BJP president Rajnath Singh clarified saying that nobody in the party is unhappy and nobody has put any condition.

Efforts are also in progress to bring all senior leaders on board together and officially declare Modi as the party’s prime ministerial candidate today. Advani who appeared to be isolated was the last person in the party standing against Modi’s immediate elevation. Modi’s appointment to the highest post might face severe criticism from senior party leader LK Advani and his supporters.

Meanwhile, Murli Manohar Joshi and Sushma Swaraj who showed symptoms of opposing Modi’s PM candidature on Thursday, changed minds and came out supporting Modi the very next day. Declaring open support to Narendra Modi, the  Shiv Sena has also come forward in Modi’s support and is expected to join the crucial parliamentary board meeting of the party scheduled to be held on Friday, Sept 13.

Former BJP president Nitin Gadkari who earlier convinced Advani on Modi’s elevation has once again tried his best persuading the veteran leader and also visited his house in the national capital. However, sources from the BJP said that Advani, who had been the party’s prime ministerial candidate in 2009 polls, will definitely make his presence in the meeting today on Friday and is also expected to present his views on selection of Modi.
