Chennai, Sep 11 (): Sivakarthikeyan’s Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam (VVS) is maintaining its success streak at the domestic box office collecting a good sum of Rs 10.25 crore in its opening (first) weekend.
At the Chennai box office, VVS topped the charts of Vinayaga Chathurthi weekend. Sivakarthikeyan starrer has surpassed the collections of the hit Bollywood Vinayaga Chathurthi weekend movie Shuddh Desi Romance.
Entertainment industry tracker, Chennai, Sreedhar Pillai tweeted, “Chennai Box-Office – Vinayaga Chathurthi Weekend – Sep 6 to 9 – 1. Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam 2. Shuddh Desi Romance ½”.
The trade analyst also stated the break up opening weekend collection of the movie. He tweeted, “#VVS Total Net Sep 6 to 8 = Rs 10.25 Cr Net approx ( Friday =3.55 Cr, Saturday = Rs 3.10 Cr & Sunday = Rs 3.60 Cr) . Very Good”.
Varutha Padatha Valibar Sangam is a story of careless youths, who are always involved in tug of war with the senior citizens of the village.
Trade analyst Trinath told VVS has turned out to be the biggest hit in Sivakarthikeyan’s career. The film registered the biggest opening in the actor’s career so far. It has raked in a gross of Rs.11.85 crore in the opening weekend in Tamil Nadu.
Trinath further said Siva is just five films old, but he has become an actor of the masses. So far, all his films have predominantly targeted the masses with comedy being a common genre. He has now become a sought after actor in the industry.
Siva’s earlier four Tamil hit films are Marina, Manam Kothi Paravai, Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga and Ethir Neechal. All the movies have fared well at the box office.
Siva’s last film Tamil romantic comedy Ethir Neechal was produced by Dhanush. Made at a budget of Rs 5 crore approximately, reports say the movie minted over Rs. 15 crore at the box office.
Sivakartikeyan has become very excited on seeing his grand success. It is said he has planned to throw a success party for the media at the Leela Palace.
