Mumbai, Sep 3 (): Chennai Express is unstoppable at box office in 4th weekend too. The movie is still doing well and collecting decent numbers. By collecting around 3.84 crore nett in its 4th weekend, the total collection of Chennai Express after 25 days is approx. huge 216.27 crore nett.
Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#ChennaiExpress collected Rs 3.84 cr nett in Weekend 4. Breakup: Fri 81 lacs, Sat 1.14 cr, Sun 1.89 cr. Grand total: Rs 222.26 cr. ATBB”.
Breakup of collection is as follows (Actuals) :
1st Week – 156.70 crore nett.
2nd Week – 43.85 crore nett.
3rd Week -17.87 crore nett.
4th Weekend – 3.84 crore nett (Estimates).
Total – 222.26 crore nett.
Chennai Express showed a good jump on 4th weekend. It started slowly on 4th Friday. But on 4th Saturday, the film registered a big jump of around 50% and a further jump of around 55-60% on 4th Sunday. Despite new releases, SRK’s film has performed decent business at the domestic as well as overseas markets in its fourth week.
Chennai Express is expected to cross 5 crore nett mark easily in its 4th week. Film has now every chance of touching 230 crore nett in its lifetime collection.
Chennai Express has smashed all box office records in just 21 days since it opened to become the most profitable movie in India. With its typical Bollywood mix of action, romance and comedy, the film has overtaken the previous record-holder ’3 Idiots’, which was released in 2009 to collect 202.57-crore in the domestic box office.
Chennai Express earned Rs 33.12 crore on the opening day, breaking the first day collection record of Rs 30.50 crore set by Salman Khan’s “Ek Tha Tiger”. Next, it crossed the 100 crore mark in just 4 days.
A tweet from Boxofficecapsule said, “#BOCapsule @iamsrk starrer @ChennaiExp2013 is now officially 400 cr grosser #CE grosses 400cr.” The website stated that “Chennai Express” is the first ever Bollywood film to gross Rs 400 crore worldwide in just 24 days.
