Mumbai, Aug 31 (): The seventh season of the popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) starts from September 6 and in this season the prize money has been raised to Rs 7 crore. The game show is presented by Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan. The actor will be seen in a new avatar and the set has also undergone a change for the first time in the history of the global franchise.
The 70-year-old has so far hosted five seasons of the show, excepting the third edition, which saw superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the quizmaster’s seat. The show is based on the international quiz show “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” that started in 2000.
The central theme of the seventh season of the game show is ‘Seekhna Bandh Toh Jeetna Bandh’.
The show will have 15 questions and the ultimate winning amount has been raised to Rs seven crore. A new lifeline ‘power paplu’ is introduced with which the contestant can reuse any of the already used lifeline.
Siddhartha Basu, managing director and chairman of Big Synergy Media Ltd, told with all the new offering, the show this year is bigger, better and brighter. The show is reborn, recharged and is innovative. He added their aim is to increase the general knowledge quotient as well.
Sneha Rajani, business head and senior EVP of Sony Entertainment Television, said the show has been shifted from Film City in Goregaon to Yash Raj Films studio in Andheri as this new place is far better. This is mainly because the infrastructure is better and it has nothing to do with Mr Bachchan’s health.
She added they wanted to do the last season also there but could not as the shoot for Dhoom 3 was under progress. The set has also been changed to include more colour and vibrancy to the show.
