Mumbai, Aug 26 (): Model-turned-actress Deepika Padukone has achieved a special status, surpassing her competitors, Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor in terms to cross the Rs. 500 crore mark at the box office in a single year.
In fact this year, Deepika Padukone has had three big releases till now – Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Chennai Express. Interestingly, with the release of these three films, the actress has aggregated a total of Rs. 500 crore becoming the first actress in a calendar year to reach this unbelievable mark.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Deepika Padukone becomes Rs 500 cr actress in 2013, surpasses competitors by big margin”.

The actress still has two big films in her pocket, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela up for release and Kochadaiyaan, south star Rajinikanth starrer Tamil film, which might also release by the end of this year. Adding up Ram Leela alone, the actress might clock Rs. 550 or even Rs. 600 cr.
Taking the top slot, Deepika surpasses her competitors, Katrina Kaif, who is at distant second place with Rs. 319.63 crores in 2012 (Ek Tha Tiger and Jab Tak Hai Jaan) and Kareena Kapoor at third place, whose movies collected Rs. 263.15 crores in 2011 (Bodyguard and Ra.One).
Also it should be noted that Deepika is the first actress to hit a hat-trick at box office with Rs 100 cr collection of all her flicks this year.
Although among actresses, Asin, Kareena Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha, whose 4-4 flicks each have made it to 100cr club. But none of these actresses hit the hat-trick in single year while Deepika Padukone has achieved this unthinkable milestone.
