Mumbai, Aug 26 (): Shah Rukh Khan has made an impressive attempt through his Chennai Express. After surpassing the collections of Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger and Aamir Khan’s 3 idiots, Chennai Express has been declared as the biggest grosser of Indian cinema.
As the movie has broken all previous box office records, it can be now compared with the other two top grossers. Shah Rukh Khan’s film was released for this Eid festival and previously Salman Khan’s films were released on the occasion of Eid festival, but they did not get this roaring response that Shah Rukh Khan film has got. The tremendous collections of Chennai Express is forcing everyone to compare its collection with other top films.
3 Idiots created highest collection record of paid previews with Rs 2.75 crore that time, which was broken by Chennai Express with over Rs 6 crore in 2013.
3 Idiots had grossed roughly Rs 392 crore at the worldwide box office and 202.57 crore in the domestic box office. Till Chennai Express broke 3 idiots record, the film was the “Biggest Blockbusters Ever in Hindi Cinema”.
Ek Tha Tiger became the highest grossing Bollywood film of 2012 and the second highest of all time. Yash Raj Films called the film a “historic blockbuster”. Now, the film stands third after Chennai express and 3 idiots.
Chennai Express entered into the elite 100 crore club in just four days, which is great compared to 3 idiots (9 days) and Ek Tha Tiger (5 days). The movie also became the second highest grossing Bollywood film in twelve days surpassing Ek Tha Tiger. CE entered the prestigious 200 crore club in just fourteen days and has finally become the biggest grosser in Indian film industry in just fifteen days.
