Mumbai, Aug 25 (): All the five accused in the Mumbai gang rape case was arrested, as the Mumbai police arrested the fifth accused Salim Ansari from New Delhi on Sunday. Ansari will be produced before the court in Mumbai tomorrow for remand, said the police.
A team of police from Mumbai Crime Branch left to Delhi and reached the locality where the Mumbai police believed Ansari would be visiting. As per the inputs received by the Police, Ansari visited the area and was caught immediately, said a senior Delhi Police. Ansari was then taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital in Delhi for medical examination and will be brought to Mumbai on Monday.
The victim working with an English magazine was gang-raped by five men in the premises of Shakti Mills compound on late Thursday. The victim in her statement to the police has claimed that the accused after tying the male colleague took their turn one by one and raped her. They even took pictures of the shameful act in their mobile and warned the woman not to reveal the matter else the pictures would be circulated.
Police today has told the court that the accused were not cooperating with the investigation and denied to have shot any pictures in their mobile. However a broken bottle of beer which was used by the accused to threaten the victim was recovered by the police. All the five accused have been booked under various sections of IPC such as 376(D) (rape), 506(2) (criminal intimidation) ,342 (wrongful confinement), and 34 (common intention).
The court when asked Kasim Bengali and Siraj Khan whether they were tortured by the police and whether they needed the help of any lawyer to take their case for which the duo replied unresponsive. Police also informed the court that they could not yet conduct an identification parade as they have not yet completed the interrogation of the accused and needed the custody of the accused.
