Box office collection report : Chennai Express becomes the BIGGEST grosser of Hindi cinema

Mumbai, Aug 24 (TruthDive): Shahrukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express has become the biggest grosser of Hindi cinema. The film has beaten Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots which had earned Rs. 202.47 at the domestic box office.

Movie enthusiast, Hindi movie critic and trade analyst Tarn Adarsh tweeted, “Records are meant to be shattered and #ChennaiExpress does just that. Becomes the BIGGEST grosser of Hindi cinema”.

The break up for the movie as per weekly collection was also tweeted by Taran. “#ChennaiExpress creates HISTORY. Week 1: 156.70 cr. Week 2: 43.85 cr. Week 3 – Fri: 2.12 cr. grand total: Rs 202.67 cr nett. India biz only”.

Taran also has praised the director of Chennai Express, Rohit Shetty. He tweeted, “Rohit Shetty becomes most successful director of Hindi cinema: 3 centuries and 1 double century. 4 films that feature in 100 cr+ grossers!”

Now Rohit Shetty’s four films including Singham, Golmaal 3, Bol Bachchan, have entered the elite Rs 100 crore club, highest amongst all the directors of Bollywood. Chennai Express had also earned the fastest Rs 100 crore in just four days of its release.

Chennai Express now has achieved the feat of entering into the prestigious 200 crore club in just 14 days of its release.

Shahrukh Khan made innovative marketing strategies to make the movie reach all nook and corners across the country as well as in the key international circuits. He was virtually present at every mall, cineplex and multiple cities trying to connect with the masses.

All his efforts had paid him well. The clever marketing skills has made the SRK and Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express the biggest hit of the year, till now.

However, Aamir Khan’s, 3 Idiots, which co-stars Kareena Kapoor, is still the biggest earner worldwide, having collected a total of Rs 392 crores at home and abroad. That’s the next record Chennai Express will be aiming towards breaking.
