Chennai, Aug 21 (TruthDive): After a delay of 11 days, Vijay starrer “Thalaivaa” was finally released in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday (20 August). The opening day of the movie in Tamil Nadu was grand and massive. Thalaivaa has raked in positive response from the film critics as well as the audience.
Advance bookings for “Thalaivaa” were high and the film witnessed a grand opening on the first day. In addition to the star value of the movie, the delay in its release has generated a lot of buzz among film lovers.
Thalaivaa has released in 405 screens across Tamil Nadu. In spite of the movie releasing in the state on a working day, industry experts say the movie has witnessed a huge response.
On the opening day, the Vijay starrer was welcomed by his fans in a traditional manner of welcoming a new release in Tamil Nadu. The actor’s fans poured milk on huge cut outs of the actor, garlanded his posters and banners and danced to the beats of folk music.
At the city’s Udhayam theatre, Vijay’s fans brought the reel of the film in a chariot, performed pooja and then carried it on their shoulders to the operator’s room.
Thalaivaa release on the slated date was delayed due to bomb threats from few miscreants to the theatre owners in Chennai. So, the theatres across Tamil Nadu refused to release the movie.
Vijay said that since the past ten days, he along with the producer, director, distributor, theatre owners and his fans have been very disturbed due to the problems relating to the release of Thalaivaa. He also expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for enabling the release of the movie.
Meantime, Thalaivaa was released on August 9 in other parts of the country and in the overseas markets. The film has completed 11 days in other places and is still received well in all centres.
