Chennai, Aug 19 (): Thalaivaa was stopped from being released in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on August 9 after a political outfit issued threats to theatre owners. After a delay of 11 days, Vijay’s Thalaivaa is all set to hit 500 screens in Tamil Nadu on August 20.
Thalaivaa opened on August 9 in other parts of the country and in the overseas market, receiving a good response.
Vijay said the tagline ‘Time to Lead’ has been removed from all promotional content and publicity materials following a ‘request’ from Vendhar Movies, distributors for the film.
Thalaivaa, which is directed by AL Vijay, has Illayathalapathy Vijay and Amala Paul playing the lead roles. Sathya Raj, Santhanam, Ragini Nandwani, Rajiv Pillai and Abhimanyu Singh play supporting roles. Music for the film is scored by GV Prakash Kumar.
The songs of the film are already topping the charts. Vijay’s ‘Vaangana Vanakkamngana’ has become the chart-buster while ‘Thamizh Pasanga’ song will showcase the dancing prowess of Vijay.
Thalaivaa deals with the story of a dancer who later turns as the rescuer of the Tamil speaking people in Mumbai. Vijay portrays the role of Thalaivaa (the leader) who rules Mumbai underworld and saves his people. The movie is also expected to be another action thriller of Vijay.
The introduction song, ‘Thalaivaa thalaivaa’ was shot in Mumbai with about 500 junior artistes. Few portions of the movie were shot in Chennai and overseas countries like, Australia, Switzerland and New South Wales.
The theatrical trailer of Thalaivaa got 1 million hits in 32 hours and 2 million hits in 10 days on YouTube after its release. The running length of the movie is 2 hours and 50 minutes.
Even though Thalaivaa releases after a delay of 11 days, expectations about the movie has not lessened. Rather, the delay has sparked a lot of enthusiasm about the movie and trade experts say Thalaivaa is expected to break all the previous records of Vijay’s movies.
