Mumbai, Aug 8 (): Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s much-awaited film Chennai Express enters theatres this evening. Diehard fans of Shahrukh are waiting for the paid previews, which will be shown on screens Thursday night.
UTV is all set to bring the Rohit Shetty directed Chennai Express with a record number of prints and has planned for a mega Paid Preview release ever in the history of Bollywood.
Sources confirm that typically Paid Previews will be shown on Thursday night in 3 or 4 shows. All major multiplex chains are screening 10-12 shows from Thursday evening itself and a huge collection is expected.
Previously, 3 Idiots had created a record of collecting approx Rs. 2.5 crore in the night before its full-fledged release. Now, Chennai Express is all set to be break the records. Recently, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag too made a good start by collecting more than Rs. 1 crore in Paid Previews.
The advance booking for the Paid Preview shows has been fantastic, said sources. In Bangalore, multiplexes have increased number of screenings to meet the demand. So, Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express is having around 80 screenings between 6 pm and 10 pm in Bangalore.
Chennai Express is getting a three-day weekend with Thursday evening Paid Preview show as a bonus. Traders predict that the Shahrukh Khan movie is likely to set a new record at Box Office worldwide.
Girish Wankhade, Head Marketing, Cinemax and PVR (West) opined that he could confidently say Chennai Express will create many records for sure, starting with Paid Previews. Chennai Express is expected to gather Rs. 5 crores on Thursday.
Chennai Express is directed by Mangalore-based Rohit Shetty. The film has Sathyaraj, Nikitin Dheer, Manorama, Kamini Kaushal and others in the cast.
Director Rohit Shetty, known for films like the Golmaal series, Singham and Bol Bachchan, has an unbeatable box office record with his three films earning over Rs 100 crores.
