Manjula Vijayakumar death : Rajnikanth and southern actors pay tribute

Chennai, July 24 (TruthDive): Manjula Vijayakumar, who had acted in more than 100 films in several south Indian films passed away yesterday at the age of just 59, following a brief illness. The demise of the actress has caused a great shock to the southern film industry.

Her sudden death shocked Kollywood more as the bad news has come very shortly after the death of actor cum director Manivannan and veteran lyricist Vaali.

Many actors rushed to Vijayakumar’s house to pay homage to the actress and console the grieving family. Rajnikanth was among the first few actors who came immediately to console Vijayakumar.

Her house was filled with young actors, top technicians and co-actors, immediately after her body reached home at 1.30 p.m. yesterday. This showed the actress’ close relationship with a lot of new generation actors in the Tamil film industry.

Apart from them, Goundamani, Sarathkumar, Radha Ravi, Ramya Krishnan, Santhana Bharathi, Prasanna, Sneha, music composer Devi Sri Prasad were present. Besides them, veteran actress Manorama was also present. She broke into tears and was inconsolable.

Young actors Trisha and Jeyam Ravi tearfully said how Manjula aunty had inspired the young actors though they had scarcely acted with her.

Southern actors also took to Twitter to mourn the loss of the late actress.

Lakshmi Manchu tweeted, “Omg! RIP Manjula aunty. U were always the coolest mom. My deepest condolences to one of the close-knit family I know. So so sad”.

Trisha Krishnan said, “Rip Manjula aunty:(Thx fr always wishn me well.Heartfelt condolences 2 uncle,preeta, papa n d family.Losin a parent is an inxplainable pain.”

Actor Sarathkumar expressed his pain at her passing away. He tweeted “Deepest condolences to Thirumathi Manjula Vijayakumar’s family ,the film industry has lost another versatile actor and a good human being”.

Manjula made her debut in Tamil romantic-drama “Shanti Nilayam” (1969), in which she played the teenage daughter of Gemini Ganesan. Some of her best films include “Rickshawkaran”, “Ulagam Sutrum Valiban” and “Alluri Seetarama Raju”.
