Gumla, July 24 (ANI): In yet another incident of Maoist brutality, the ultras on Tuesday chopped off the limbs of three villagers before killing them in Jharkhand’s Gumla district
The incident, which happened in Konkel village of the Maoist infested district, has sent a wave of fear amongst the locals.
According to eyewitnesses, over 30 armed Maoists dragged the victims from their homes and taken outside the village, where they were beaten up and their legs were chopped off.
“They were taken to some distance outside the village, there arms were tied and then they (Maoists) chopped off their legs. They were in large numbers, about 30 to 35 people. They came in the night, dragged the victims and started beating them. They were also heavily armed,” said Anil Soren, a villager.
The three victims were identified as Tulsi Das, Hira Lal Singh and Firdu Soren.
Legislator from Gumla, Geetashri Urav came down hard on the police deployed in the region and said that the alarming rise in the rate of crime and killings in this region was worrisome.
“The situation is worrisome in this district because repeatedly people are being brutally killed, for whatever reasons. But I think in this region, either it is criminals or Maoists the fear of police and law is missing,” said Urav. (ANI)
