Mumbai, July 18 (): D-Day is a crime-thriller film co-produced by Emmay Entertainment Private Limited and DAR Motion Pictures. Directed by Nikhil Advani, the movie stars Arjun Rampal, Rishi Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Shruti Haasan, Sandeep Kulkarni and Huma Qureshi in the lead roles. D-Day is slated for release on July 19, 2013.
The story of the film is written by Ritesh Shah Suresh Nair and Nikhil Advani. The music of the film is composed by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy and lyrics penned by Niranjan Iyengar.
D-Day is the story of four modest characters, all with different background stories, but with a common mission that brings them together on foreign soil to accomplish one such mission. It explores their journey, their choices, their losses and their victories. The movie is set in a never captured celluloid backdrop.
The story follows Wali Khan (Irrfan Khan), who is a RAW mole in Pakistan, tasked with gathering information on the Most Wanted Man in India, Dawood Ibrahim.
After nine years, a commando from the Indian Army called Rudra Pratap Singh (Arjun Rampal) and an explosives expert Zoya Rehman (Huma Qureshi) and Aslam (Akash Dhaiya) a petty thief from the streets of Mumbai, recruited by RAW infiltrate into Pakistan to join Wali Khan and carry out the mission to bring back The Most Wanted Man in India.
Director Nikhil Advani signed south actress Shruti Haasan as the heroine opposite actor Arjun Rampal. Out of the three female characters in the movie, only Huma Qureshi was given the option to choose the character she wanted to portray. D-Day was filmed in Ahmedabad’s most famous bungalow scheme named Sentossa Greenland and many more areas in Ahmedabad City too.
The first trailer of D-Day was released on 22 May. The film was sent for the censor formalities on July 7, when it was certified U/A certificate by the censor board.
The film is scheduled to release on 19 July by Wave Movies in India and Yashraj Films in overseas territory.
