Bhubaneshwar, July 16 (TruthDive): Security was tightened in and around Sri Jagannath Temple at Puri ahead of the visit of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday as Modi left to Odisha to have darshan of Lord Jagannath at Gundicha Temple and Goddess Laxmi and Maa Bimala at Sri Mandir.
“During Modi’s visit, CISF personnel and Odisha Police in large numbers have been deployed,” said Sarat Kumar, the director of Biju Patnaik Airport. Sources said a total of ten private security personnel of Modi arrived here and took stock of the security arrangements at the airport along with party general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan and state unit president K V Singhdeo.
While talking to reporters, Puri SP Anup Kumar Sahoo said that as the Gujarat chief Minister enjoys Z-plus category protection, arrangements have been made according to that.He further admitted that security has also been beefed up at Sri Jagannath and Gundicha temples where Modi is scheduled to visit and seek blessings of the Trinity.
Modi is also scheduled to meet Puri Gajapati Maharaja Divyasingh Deb and Sankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati after offering prayers at Gundicha Temple and Sri Mandir on Tuesday.
The BJP leader is also scheduled to pay tribute to “Pancha-Sakha” (five legends) at Sakhigopal as a mark of respect towards Odiya heroes on his way to Puri, said state unit president Singhdeo.
Modi who arrived at 9.15 am at the Biju Patnaik airport by a chartered flight is likely to depart at 4:45 pm. Modi is expected to spend more than an hour in Gundicha Temple and Sri Mandir and will also have darshan of Lord Jagannath at Gundicha Temple as well as Goddess Laxmi and ‘Maa Bimala’ at Sri Mandir.
Before leaving the holy town, Modi is also scheduled to meet state BJP leaders at a hotel in Puri. BJP’s joint in-charge of Odisha Arun Singh arrived here ahead of Modi’s visit in order to take care of arrangements for Modi’s visit. Singh after reviewing the development visited the Airport and met the Airport director as part of preventive measures.
