New Delhi, July 15 (): Reacting sharply to Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati’s demand to ban the RSS, Bajrang Dal and the VHP, the BJP on Monday slammed the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and said that Mayawati is making such wild demands to please fundamentalists in her vote bank among minorities.
Criticizing Mayawati for demanding the ban, Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Laxmikant Bajpai said that Mayawati is most upset over the prospects of her party which has completely failed in Uttar Pradesh and hence she is making such comments.
Challenging Mayawati, the state BJP president urged her to force the UPA government at the centre to ban the RSS and the VHP and also asked Mayawati if this does not happen, will she withdraw her support to the UPA?
Mayawati should never forget that she became the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh by the blessings of the RSS and the support of the BJP, said Mr Bajpai.
To polarize the Muslim vote in her favour, Mayawati intended in making such comments so that she can easily wrap up the minority vote, said the BJP leader. Mayawati is only concerned about getting the minority votes, and is not concerned about the good work done by the BJP, said VHP spokesperson Sharad Sharma.
Accepting the decision of the Allahabad High Court to ban caste rallies in Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati on Sunday demanded the central government to ban the VHP, RSS and Bajrang Dal and claimed that her party will hold such caste-based rallies under the banner of ‘Sarva Samaj Sadbhawna’.
Despite the High Court ban on holding caste- based rallies, Mayawai said that the BSP would continue to organize such rallies as her party is meant for bringing all castes together. She further claimed that the court instead of banning caste based rallies should ban religious organizations like the RSS, VHP, and Bajrang Dal.
