Mumbai, June 22 (): Hrithik Roshan has received the highest bid at a fund-raising event to help special children in Dubai surpassing box office king Salman Khan and young actor Ranbir Kapoor.
The auction was organised by Rohit Roy for a training centre that helps out kids with special needs. Many Bollywood superstars joined the auction. While Salman’s blue shirt and trousers fetched 10,000 dirham, which is about Rs 1.6 lakh, it was Hrithik Roshan’s Diesel jacket that fetched the highest amount – 11,000 dirham, which is about Rs 1.79 lakh.
Ranbir Kapoor auctioned his jacket, which he wore in ‘Rockstar’ and sold for 10,000 dirham, while his cousin sister Kareena Kapoor auctioned her salwaar-kameez, which she wore in ‘Heroine’ and got an amount of 10,000 dirham. Deepika Padukone also joined the auction and sold out her cocktail dress for 8,000 dirham that she wore in ‘Race 2′.
Dubai always has special love and affection for Bollywood and its celebrities.
While talking to the media about the auction, Rohit Roy said he was overwhelmed to see the grand response. Confirming that Hrithik’s jacket got the highest price, he said that almost all the actor’s belongings were sold out – around 10,000 to 11,000 dirham, but Hrithik got the highest amount for his jacket. Also, he felt very happy to see the celebrities taking part for such a noble cause.
Rohit Roy said, “They all are huge draws in Dubai. I’m thankful that they were forthcoming when I told them about this charitable deed. They happily parted with their belongings.”
On his part, Rohit feels that such an auction will help the kids of the charity school get a solid foundation.
Hrithik Roshan is at present filming for “Bang Bang” the Indian film re-make of Knight And Day with Katrina Kaif and will be continuing his superhero character in Krrish 3, out this Diwali 2013.
