Box office collection : Raanjhana collects 5.15 cr on its opening (first) day

Mumbai, June 22 (): Raanjhanaa that was directed by Anand L Rai and released on June 21, opened to strictly average response and has collected 5.15 crore on its opening day of release.

Trade expert Tarn Adarsh in his Twitter account wrote, “#Raanjhanaa Fri *actuals* 5.15 cr”.

Raanjhanaa is said to have witnessed the best opening this Friday at the Box Office. Yesterday, three Bollywood films – Raanjhanaa, Shortcut Romeo and Enemmy and one big Hollywood film ‘World War Z’ were released. All the films are of different concepts and of different genres.

All the four films were released on June 21. Out of all these films, Raanjhanaa got the best opening this Friday at the Box Office.

Raanjhana, directed by talented director Anand L Rai who has given great hit films like Tanu Weds Manu, opened better in north with the occupancy of around 25-28% and 25% around Mumbai.

Box office experts said the film started slowly at box office in the morning with 25% occupancy. As the movie received good reviews from film critics and good word of mouth, the film collections improved as the day progressed.

Film was good in mass centres like UP, Bihar, CI, CP and Delhi and very good in Mumbai, Mysore and Hyderabad. Due to the presence of Kolaveri Di fame southern actor Dhanush, the film has opened well in south.

The release of Raanjhana was much awaited for several reasons. First it has unusual pairing of Dhanush and Sonam and also marks debut of Dhnaush in Bollywood. Second, the film has melodious music by maestro A R Rahman. Third, the film is the next offering from director Anand L Rai who delivered hit “Tanu Weds Manu” few years back.

Reviews appreciated the acting of Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor. The peculiar chemistry between the pair was also appreciated. Appreciation started getting translated into figures from evening onwards.
