Kareena Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan to team up for Mere Apne!

Mumbai, June 15 (TruthDive): Kareena Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan will be seen together in Bhushan Kumar-produced, Umesh Shukla directorial ‘Mere Apne’. Both started their Bollywood career together with Refugee. After Refugee, they have worked in only one another film together, Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon (2003).

A recent report suggests that filmmaker Umesh Shukla of OMG! Oh My God fame has contacted both the stars for his next project Mere Apne. After he decided Abhishek for the male lead role, he has been on the lookout for his lead lady for quite some time and he has finally approached Kareena with the script.

Sources say the director had approached Kareena Kapoor on Thursday. After an intense hour-long meeting with Kareena, Bebo seemed quite excited and sources said, she is seriously considering the project. A script-narration has been scheduled for Monday.

Sources say, after script narration, if Kareena accepts she would be seen with Abhishek Bachchan after a decade.

Initially, the makers talked with Saif Ali Khan but he did not have dates and Abhishek Bachchan was replaced in place of Saif. Although Saif and Kareena would sizzle on-screen, it would be nice to see Abhishek and Kareena in screen after Sooraj Barjatiya’s Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon.

In 2003, Abhishek who had been engaged to Kareena’s sister Karishma Kapoor for four months broke it off. The result was a long-standing dispute between the two families and they were not in the attitude to be civil to each other ever since. Now, it looks like the pair has decided to bury their differences and work together.

Mere Apne also has Rishi Kapoor doing the role of Abhishek Bachchan’s father. The film will be shot in Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and London. The film will go to floors in September of this year.
