The Karan Johar-produced romantic entertainer has topped the weekend collection chart. The first weekend collection of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s has surpassed the records of previous releases like Barfi, Rockstar and Race 2.
YJHD has smashed the records of “Race 2″ which raked 51.35 crore in its opening weekend in India and Ranbir’s movie has become the highest grosser in the opening weekend in 2013. It is expected to cross Rs 100 crore mark by the end of the first week.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was released in 3,000+ screens on May 31. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics and appreciation from audiences and the star power of Ranbir Kapoor has also helped the movie to gain such a great collection.
However, Superstar Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2, which released in 3,500 screens on non-holiday, had collected Rs 64.66 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend. Dabangg 2′s breakup collection is Rs 21.10 cr on Fri, Rs 19.06 cr on Sat and Rs 24.5 cr on Sun. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has just failed to break this record with a small margin. But, when the screen count is considered, its collection is better than the former.
