Winning the toss and choosing to field, KKR limited RCB to 115 for nine and then chased down the modest target with four balls to spare at the JSCA International Stadium Complex.
RCB struggled to score freely. Chris Gayle found very tough to score his 33, hitting just one four and a six, before being stumped off by the bowling of Narine.
The runs came in ones and twos with KKR bowlers not allowing the batsmen to swing their arms freely. The condition prevailed the same in the next 10 overs and every time the batsmen tried to swing their bats, they only ended up losing their wickets.
An impressive bowling by Sunil Narine (4/22) helped Kolkata Knight Riders restrict Royal Challengers Bangalore to 115/9.
Taking the bat in the second innings, Manvinder Bisla was sent out by Ravi Rampaul in their first over of the innings. Then, Gambhir and Kallis stabilised KKR with a 31-run partnership for the second wicket. They added runs by ones and twos, besides occasionally hitting boundaries.
In the fourth over bowled by Abhimanyu Mithun, the KKR skipper scored three successive fours.
Kallis in his careful innings of 41 played practical shots throughout and played a major role in stabilising the Knight Riders run chase after Yusuf Pathan was dismissed by Murali Kartik.
