Ludiana, May 6 (): The screening of the latest project of John Abraham, Shootout at Wadala was cancelled at several theatres in Ludhiana, Bathinda, Amritsar, Moga and Jalandhar on Sunday after organisations Bhartiya Valmiki Dharam Samaj and Dr Ambedkar Ekta Mission complained that certain dialogues of the movie have insulted the community.
The members of Bhartiya Valmiki Dharm Samaaj and Dr Ambedkar Ekta Mission, Punjab had held a protest in Ludhiana, as they were upset with a dialogue in a disapproving reference to Maharishi Valmiki from Shootout at Wadala.
Laxman Dravid, National Director of the community said that they had already sent legal notices to producer of the film, Ekta Kapoor, and director Sanjay Gupta.
Deepak Hans, President of Dr Ambedkar Ekta Mission said that in one dialogue, an actor has used wrong language for Valmikiji by saying, ‘har chor valmiki nahi hota’ and in other dialogue John Abraham says, ‘Eklavya ne angutha dia tha, main poora haath de dunga.’
Laxman Dravid has stated that they should think twice before saying anything against Valmikiji and these dialogues could have serious consequences in the whole nation. Once these are censored, they had no objection to the movie.
The members of the community have demanded the makers of the movie to censor some offensive scenes, only after which they would approve the screening of the movie.
Sources said the shows in some cities of Punjab were cancelled on orders of DC Rahul Tewari and Police Commissioner Ishwar Singh.
The show was stopped midway in some theatres and multiplexes on Sunday because the members of the two organisations protested outside Silver Arc Mall at noon, where the film was shown at PVR Cinemas.
The multiplexes called off the screening after its morning and noon show. The same was followed by other cineplexes too, to ensure safety and security. The multiplexes are obviously upset with the current situation.
