Electing to bat first, Mumbai Indians scored 139 for five with captain Rohit Sharma top-scoring with a 30-ball 39 not out and then shot out Chennai for just 79 in 15.2 overs. This loss was the heaviest defeat for Chennai in the IPL in terms of runs.

Mumbai openers started slow and scored just 21 runs in the first five overs. Sachin Tendulkar (15) was trapped leg before by Jadeja. After the dismissal of Tendulkar, Mumbai Indians started losing wickets in a heap.

Mumbai was 82 for five, later skipper Sharma and Harbhajan started their game in the 16th over to score 139 for five.

In their bowling side, Mumbai Indians Pragyan Ojha (3/11) and Mitchell Johnson (3/27) took three wickets each, while Lasith Malinga grabbed two wickets for just six runs. IPL debutant Pawan Suyal and Harbhajan Singh took one wicket each.

Chennai were never in the run chase in yesterdays’ match as they suffered a top-order batting breakdown with half their side in dressing room for just 34 runs in the seventh over.

Except Hussey, Dhoni and Jadeja, all the other players scored only one digit scores.
