Mumbai, Apr 30 (): “Iron Man 3″ earned Rs 21+ crore at the domestic box office during its first weekend, the second Hollywood film to cross this level in the domestic market says the leading news site business today.
“Iron Man 3″ stands behind “The Amazing Spiderman”, which collected around Rs 25 crore in its first weekend.
Iron Man 3 was released in India on April 26; the opening day response to the movie was overwhelming. The movie collected 7.25 crores on Friday (Day 1) at the Indian Box Office. This is the second highest number of any Hollywood movie in India. The first being The Amazing Spiderman, released in 2012 collected 8.50 crores on its opening day and earned the name Biggest Hollywood Opener in India.
Cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Cochin witnessed excellent occupancy for afternoon and evening shows. In addition, the business is doing well in the main centres of South India, where the film released in dubbed languages.
Opened in both 3D and 2D versions, the movie has been dubbed in several regional languages (Hindi, Tamil and Telugu) in India, which helped the movie to receive a wide appeal in India.
In Tamil Nadu, an overwhelming response is witnessed for “Iron Man 3″. Trade analyst Sreedhar said that “Iron Man” had earned 53 lakh on the opening day in the state, performing much better than the recent Tamil film releases.
Sreedhar tweeted, “#IronMan3 is doing super business in TN,on day 1 did 53 lakhs, weekend may touch 1.75 Cr. All new Tamil releases nowhere near!”
“Iron Man 3″ is the third instalment of the multi-million-dollar franchise featuring Robert Downey Jr, playing the title character. He reappears in the role of superhero industrialist Tony Stark from the first two films. The Hollywood movie is directed by Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man.
This latest outing of Robert Downey Jr’s is surely a hit with his Indian fans.
