Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor starrer love story ‘Aashiqui 2’ was released with much hype on April 26, Friday in more than 2800 screens. The movie directed by Mohit Suri started with a bang at theatres across the country on the first day. It showed a decent opening on Friday and continued with its energetic swing at the box office throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Film collected 6.25 cr nett on the opening day followed by 6.75 cr nett on Saturday. The collection on Saturday increased by 10% and somewhat a similar type of growth happened on Sunday. The film collected 7.50 cr nett on Sunday taking film’s 1st weekend collection to 20.50 cr nett.
Considering the increase in its collections, it looks like the film will certainly re-create its magic like the prequel “Aashiqui”, released in 1990. Aashiqui 2 has released almost 23 years after the original.
Made on a budget of Rs.12 crore, this collection is expected to do much more good to the makers. Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Aashiqui2 shows 10% – 15% growth on Saturday. Expect 20%+ jump on Sunday, as per trends. Looking at its low costs, this one’s a Smash Hit!”
Trade expert Akshaye Rathi said Aashiqui 2 has appealed to the family audience in a huge way besides young couples and dominated in the mass circuits.
Experts predict that the film will finish its first week with 24-25 cr net, despite a huge competition in the second week from “Shootout At Wadala” that releases on May 3. This collection will make the film profitable, they said.
