New Delhi, Mar 22 (): All of Bollywood on Thursday were moved by the verdict of the Supreme Court sentencing actor Sanjay Dutt to five years’ imprisonment for his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai blast case.
Longing for a miracle for Sanjay Dutt , Priyanka Chopra had tweeted that her heart went out to the gentlest person and prayed for a respite through the Indian judiciary. Hrithik Roshan had also tweeted saying that Sanju sir did not deserve this.
Talking on Sanjay Dutt’s defence, actress Jaya Prada who was disappointed by the verdict said that it was written in Dutt’s fate that he has to suffer like this. Being a son of a great father who served the country and the Indian politics, Sanjay Dutt has also done something innocently, said Jaya Prada.
Though Bollywood has come out strongly in support of Sanjay Dutt, it might not come to the actor’s rescue as he has to serve the remaining term in jail.
Fifty-three year old Dutt who will be surrendering himself in four weeks will also probably land the producers and filmmakers in jeopardy as more than Rs 200 crores are riding on the actor. Sanjay Dutt has not yet finished shooting for Apoorva Lakhia’s ‘Zanjeer,’ a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s hit movie of 1970s. Following the Supreme Court’s verdict, the film maker might be thinking to find an alternate for the role.
Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt tweeted saying that he expected mercy which did not happen. “After hearing the verdict my heart has broken”, wrote Mr Bhatt on his Twitter.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt’s sister Priya Dutt who was seen to be emotional said that she has no words to say as she has received a big shock. Priya Dutt who is also a Congress MP was present in the court right from the beginning of the hearing and left the court in distress after the verdict, said sources.
