Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan to walk at Cannes Film Festival 2013

Mumbai, Mar 15 (TruthDive): Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be seen walking the red carpet of 66th Cannes Film Festival beginning May 15 this year.

The organizers of the film The Great Gatsby said Tuesday that with Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role and directed by Australian Baz Luhrmann, The Great Gatsby will open in this year’s Cannes Film Festival as the opening night movie. The festival, which runs from May 15-26, is an exciting 12-day French Riviera extravaganza.

Amitabh Bachchan will attend the Cannes Festival as he has played an essential role in The Great Gatsby. The Great Gatsby is based on the novel by American author Francis Scott Fitzgerald and stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire in lead roles. The film hits the theatres of North American on May 10, five days before the start of Cannes.

But Amitabh Bachchan is not the only Bachchan to visit the Cannes this year. Daugther-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s spokesperson confirmed that Aishwarya will attend the 66th Cannes Film Festival. The statement said the actress will be attending the Cannes Film Festival this year as well as the L’Oreal Paris ambassador as she has been doing in the past.

Aishwarya Rai has been a regular fixture at the Cannes for the past 11 years. So, this year’s event will be a gala experience for her as her appearance at the film festival is her 12th consecutive time.

This year’s Festival de Cannes will welcome a large number of celebrities from the Indian film industry to celebrate the completion of one hundred years since the birth of cinema in India.

And on this special occasion and coincidence, the presence of Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the Cannes Film Festival makes it more exciting for the Indian film industry.

India, in 2013, is to be the third ‘guest country’ at Cannes, following Egypt in 2011 and Brazil this year.
