Mumbai, Mar 13 (): Box office collection reports say Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns (SBAGR ) collection is going up steadily and is already making profits. The movie has managed to mint Rs. 12.75 crore during its opening weekend.
Released on March 8, SBAGR is the sequel of Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster released in 2011. The film does not have Bollywood A-list actors: actors like Jimmy Sheirgill and Mahie Gill re-present their roles from the previous film. They are joined by Irrfan and Soha Ali Khan in the cast. The movie, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, has received mixed reviews from the audiences.
The collections of Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns were Rs 3.50 crore on Friday, Rs 4.25 crore on Saturday and around Rs 5 crore on Sunday bringing its total to Rs 12.75 crore.
On Monday, the movie collected Rs 1.75 cr and on Tuesday around Rs 1.55 cr, thus making the five day collection at Rs 16 cr.
The film opened to 20% response but the favourable reviews by critics and positive word of mouth saw an increase in collections on Saturday and Sunday. The business was the best in Mumbai, NCR, and Punjab region.
The film was made at a budget of just Rs 7 crore at a time when films have started having a budget of hundred crore rupees or even more. Experts say SBAGR will do thrice the business of Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster.
Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns has got one of the best openings for a small film. So this is really a huge boost to the film team which could prompt making of many small budget films in the days to come.
Tigmanshu Dhulia directed movie is likely to end up its opening week business in the range of 17-17.50 crores, which is certainly great for a film made on a limited budget. But, the film will struggle next week due to the release of three movies coming Friday.
