Mumbai, Mar 11 (): It’s official now that Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express is releasing on Eid, on August 8. This is the first time in years that Shahrukh will release his film on the auspicious day, but Salman has been storming the box office with Wanted, Bodyguard, Dabangg and Ek Tha Tiger for the past four years.
The date for Chennai Express was confirmed at a meeting held in Wai a few days back. Usually, SRK’s films release for Diwali slot and it was an unwritten code between these two stars that one will not intrude into the favourite time of the other. The release of SRK’s Chennai Express on Eid, had become more apparent over the past few weeks and it is confirmed now.
SRK, who was in a jubilant mood and had plans to releasing the movie on Eid day, broke the news to the media. The actor, who is currently in Mahabaleshwar, called a meeting of various stakeholders including production house members, distributors, music directors Vishal-Shekhar, film director Rohit Shetty and Farah Khan on the sets to finalise the date. “Get ready for Eid!” he reportedly said with a lot of delight.
Eid is always considered a special day for movie producers and big actors as at least two big films if not one will surely be released on screens on the most desired slot.
Then coming to Salman’s side, Sher Khan was first announced as an Eid release, but now it is shelved. His Mental is still under production and is unlikely to get ready by Eid.
But Shahrukh’s Chennai express might face a rigid competition from Akshay Kumar this time as the Balaji Motion Pictures’ “Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Again” is also slated for Eid release.
Bhansali wisely has moved “Ram Leela” away from this collision way, to avoid a repeat of the OSO – “Saawariya” story.
