Sydney, Feb 15 (ANI): Microsoft, which has not been able to compete with Apple and Google in the smartphone market, has hinted that it will not stop trying and does not have an alternative strategy.
Microsoft’s chief financial officer Peter Klein said that the fir is ‘very focused on continuing the success it has with PCs and taking that to tablets and phones.’
His remarks came at the annual Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference in San Francisco, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
According to the paper, given Microsoft’s lack of success so far, he was asked if there was an alternative strategy or ‘Plan B’ in reserve.
Klein answered that ‘it is less ‘Plan B’ than how you execute on the current plan’.
He added that the firm aims to ‘evolve this generation of Windows to make sure they have the right set of experiences at the right price points for all customers.’
Microsoft now has two versions of its own brand Surface tablet for sale and released its newest Windows phone software last year.
But the company has not made big inroads into either market, the paper said. (ANI)
