Yash Chopra’s statue unveiled

Mumbai, Feb 14 (TruthDive): Yash Chopra’s statue was unveiled at an event at YRF studios, Mumbai on Monday by Yash Chopraji’s wife Pamela Chopra and son Uday Chopra.

The bronze statue of Yash Chopra was erected in honour to him, who died last year on October 21 after contracting dengue. He was 80, when he died.

Unveiling the statue, wife Pamela said,”I want to thank UTV for this great initiative as people forget. We all have a habit to do so. But with this statue, we would not forget him.” She added she really liked the statute, as the statue had his pose with his camera and favourite cap.

Chopra’s son Uday Chopra commented on the statue emotionally saying that he had seen him live, so it was a different feeling. And as rightly said, now his admirers could touch him and feel him.

Actress Rani Mukerji too became very emotional at the event. She said with visibly teary-eyes to the reporters that she would like to thank UTV for this great effort. It was a great moment for all the people who loved Yash uncle and the people who are associated with the family.

At the event, many celebrities shared their experience with Chopra. Shatrughan Sinha spoke honestly about the filmmaker at the event.

Now, Yash Chopra’s statue joins Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and Dev Anand statues. The statue will be later placed at UTV Stars ‘Walk of the Stars’ in Bandra Bandstand on February 15.

Some of the other celebrities who were present at the unveiling event were Prem Chopra, Shatrughan Sinha, Poonam Dhillon, Parineeti Chopra and Rani Mukerji. UTV head Siddharth Roy Kapur was also spotted at the event.

Previously, a grand premiere show was arranged for Chopra’s last directorial venture Jab Tak Hain Jaan after his death to honour his life and career.
