Henriques taking inspiration from Watson to tighten grip on vacant all-rounder post

Sydney, Feb 14 (ANI): Australian cricketer Moises Henriques has said that he is taking inspiration from vice-captain Shane Watson, in a bid to win the vacant all-rounder’s post for the first Test against India on February 22.

Henriques, who drew attention with his display of reverse-swing bowling in the two-day tour match against the India Board XI team, said that he has learnt a lot from Watson and added that having Watson as his teammate is a great advantage as he can share ideas with him, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

On his performance at the two-day game at Chennai, Henriques said that he was inspired by Watson’s discipline with his lengths and tried to recreate that on the field.

Henriques, who has copied Watson’s method of varying his pace and concentrating on tight bowling, said that Watson rarely bowls loose balls.

He added that he is inspired by the way Watson pressurises the batsmen with his bowling.

India A will host the touring Australia team for a three-day game starting on Saturday at the Guru Nanak College Ground.

Australia captain Michael Clarke, who was injured with a sore hamstring, would play after completing some light running drills on Wednesday while opener David Warner (fractured thumb) might be rested this weekend, the paper said. (ANI)
