Mumbai, Feb 12 (): Bollywood star Salman Khan is to host the 8th Renault Star Guild Awards 2013, marking his debut in hosting an awards ceremony.
The award function will be held on Saturday, February 16. For the first time, Salman Khan will be hosting the award show.
The awards are a joint initiative by the Wizcraft International Entertainment and Film & Television Producers Guild. The show is sponsored by Renault, powered by Venus Soaps and its associate sponsors are Nivea Deodorants and Videocon.
The ceremony will showcase the performances in which the 8th Renault Star Guild Awards winners will be announced. The ceremony will also display Salman’s distinctive sense of humour and signature style.
In an official statement, the authorized person of the awards ceremony confirmed that Salman would appear on the stage. Loved around the world by millions, the actor is all set to amuse his peers, members of the film and television fraternity and his fans.
Salman Khan’s contemporaries Saif Ali Khan, Shahrukh Khan have hosted award ceremonies before. It is not that Salman did not get any offers to host an event before, it is just that he did not show interest in hosting shows but now he is interested to do so.
Salman Khan has previously hosted TV shows like ‘Bigg Boss’ and ‘Dus Ka Dum’, which have become very popular. He has a huge fan following who like his style of hosting shows.
In this year’s awards, a new category, “the Yash Chopra Award”, will be introduced in addition to the existing categories. The award has been introduced in memory of the late director, Yash Chopra, and will honour talent for the Best Debutant Director every year for Hindi film world.
