Chennai, Feb 12 (TruthDive): Kamal Hassan’s Tamil spy thriller ‘Vishwaroopam’ has entered the 100 crore club in a span of just five days. The controversial film has grossed Rs 120 crore at the box office and is still running to packed houses in Tamil Nadu.
Spy-thriller Vishwaroopam, directed by actor Kamal Hassan was released in the theatres across Tamil Nadu on February 7th, 13 days after its worldwide release on January 25th. The Hindi version of the movie, ‘Vishwaroop’ was released in North India on February 1. The response for the movie in North India was also good.
As the film opened on big screens, after much of expectations and trouble, the first day of its release received an astonishing response and reports said the film was screened at some theatres as early as 5 am in the morning.
Kamal Hassan was under heavy mental stress due to the severe controversy over his film but he received huge support from his fans and film fraternities from all film industries. Amid the controversies and the protests across the country, the film has done an outstanding business.
The gross collection of Vishwaroopam all over India has been reported for the last two weeks, including the Hindi version of the film, Vishwaroop.
Reportedly, the film has grossed 11 crores from Kerala and Karnataka jointly, 22 crores from Andhra Pradesh and 20 crores from the Hindi version.
The film has garnered about 14 crores from the overseas box office collection. The official box office collection report for the movie in Tamil Nadu is yet to be released. But, none of these numbers are officially confirmed.
