Mumbai, Feb 7 (TruthDive): Special 26, a Bollywood movie releasing on February 8, 2013 is produced by Kumar Mangat Pahtak and Shital Bhatia. “A Wednesday” fame director Neeraj Pandey has written the story and directed the movie. The movie stars Akshay Kumar, Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles, with Anupam Kher, Jimmy Shergill and Manoj Bajpai in supporting roles.
The story of the film is based on the real-life bold theft dated 19-Mar-1987. In the daring incident, an unknown man pretending as CBI officer Mon Singh had employed 26 men along with him and performed a daylight raid on the Opera House branch of Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri in Mumbai, and disappeared with jewellery worth lakhs.
Sources said, Neeraj waited for almost three years after A Wednesday, as he wanted Akshay Kumar for the film. Earlier, actor Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn were roped in to play lead roles. Later, director decided Akshay would be a perfect match for the fake CBI officer character.
Akshay’s character name is “Mr Ajay Singh” and he plays the leader of the 26-men army in the film. Manoj Bajpai plays a real CBI officer and Anupam Kher plays a vital role in the film.
The music of the film is scored by M.M Kareem and Himesh Reshammiya and lyrics are penned by Shabbir Ahmed and Irshad Kamil.
The film started its shoot from February 23, 2012 in Delhi. The first schedule of the film was shot in Chandni Chowk, then the unit moved to Jama Masjid.
