Chennai, Feb 5 () : Vishwaroopam, Kamal Hassan’s much-awaited mega spy thriller is all set to release in Tamil Nadu on Thursday, February 7 after days of suspense,opposition by Muslim organizations and drama.
Kamal Hassan has withdrawn his petition in the Madras High Court which he filed challenging the ban.

Kamal Hassan’s Rs 95 crore dream project Vishwaroopam was originally scheduled for launch in Tamil Nadu on January 25 but just a day before the release, the government of Tamil Nadu imposed a ban over its release after some Muslim organizations protested over its release claiming that the film was anti-Muslim and that it hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community.
After prolonged discussion, both the warring parties -Kamal Hassan and the representatives of the Muslim organizations entered into a truce after Kamal Hassan agreed to edit seven objectionable scenes in the film,Vishwaroopam. Most of the edited content are audio clippings that were anti-Quran, sources say.
The Hindi version of the film,Vishwaroop released in North India on February 1 is doing ‘fantastic’ business according to media reports.
