Box office report : Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2 nears 200 crore mark worldwide

Mumbai, Jan 7 (TruthDive): Bollywood movie Dabangg 2 has done superb collection at the worldwide box office and the movie is expected to do a steady business at the collection centres in India, UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand and UAE in the third week too.

Sequel to blockbuster movie Dabangg, Dabangg 2, directed by Arbaaz Khan, features Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. The film also features Arbaaz Khan, Vinod Khanna, Prakash Raj, Sandeepa Dhar, Nikitan Dheer and Deepak Dobriyal in supporting roles. The movie was released on Dec. 21 across 3,500 screens in India and 450 screens abroad. On its opening day, the movie collected Rs 21.10 crore.

As per reports published in boxoffice capsule, the movie has collected 193 crore in the worldwide market. So, trade analysts predict that the Salman Khan starrer is likely to surpass the 200 crore mark at the global box office in the third weekend.

The film collected a whopping 106.78 crores in the first week, surpassing Aamir Khan’s “Talaash” and Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” at the box office but the second week collection dropped down drastically due to India-Pakistan cricket series and unexpected gang rape issue of a 23-year-old girl in Delhi that affected most of the areas in the country.

This week saw five new releases – Table No 21, Rajdhani Express, Dekha Jo Pehli Baar, Dehraadun Diary and Meri Shadi Karao. All the movies except Table No 21 have had a very poor response at the box office making way for Dabangg 2 to rock the show again in the third week.

However, trade experts say earning 7 crore is not a big deal for Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2 as the movie is the first choice for the viewers for this week too. They add that the movie would surely cross Rs 200 crore mark at the worldwide box office in the third weekend. We have to just wait and watch.
