Bollywood 2012: Top 10 first (opening) day collections

Dec 31 (TruthDive): After knowing the first day collections of the latest release of the much-expected big banner movie- Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2, Bollywood’s Top 10 first (opening) day collections of 2012 is released.

1. Ek Tha Tiger

Verdict : BLOCKBUSTER

EK Tha Tiger, starring Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif tops the chart by collecting 31.25 crore on its opening day, which was Independence Day, August 15, a national holiday. The movie was produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Kabir Khan.

2. Agneepath

Verdict : SUPER HIT

Agneepath, starring Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor grossed 21.76 crore on its first day of release, on 26th January, Republic Day, which was also a national holiday. The movie was produced by Karan Johar and directed by Karan Malhotra.

3. Dabangg 2

Verdict : BLOCKBUSTER

Dabangg 2, starring Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha is the last big release of this year. The movie, released on a non-holiday Friday, December 21, which mainly focussed on Christmas and New Year holidays, has collected 21.10 crore. This collection has set the record “Highest Opener For a Non-holiday” for Dabangg 2. The movie is produced by Arbaaz Khan, Malaika Arora Khan and directed by Arbaaz Khan.

4. Rowdy Rathore

Verdict : BLOCKBUSTER

Rowdy Rathore, starring Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha grossed 15 crore on its opening day, June 1. The movie was produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ronnie Screwvala and directed by Prabhu Deva.

5. Jab Tak Hai Jaan

Verdict : SUPERHIT

Jab Tak Hai Jaan, released on Diwali day, November 13 of this year with one another big banner movie Son of Sardaar, collected 13.5 crore on it opening day. The movie starred Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma in lead roles and is the last movie of legend director Yash Chopra.

6. Housefull 2

Verdict : SUPER HIT

Housefull 2 featured actors such as Akshay Kumar, Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez, John Abraham, Ritesh Deshmukh, Zarine Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Shazahn Padamsee, Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty, Randhir Kapoor and Boman Irani in lead roles. The movie was released on April 5th during IPL season. In spite of it, the movie collected 13.25 crore due to its big star cast. Its producer is Sajid Nadiadwala and director is Sajid Khan.

7. Talaash

Verdict : HIT

Talaash, a suspense thriller movie of Aamir Khan was released on a non-holiday Friday on November 30. The movie on its opening day grossed  12.50 crore, which is the second highest collection on a non-holiday next to Dabangg 2. The movie, directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar features Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee.

8. Bol Bachchan

Verdict : HIT

Bol Bachchan that featured Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin, Prachi Desai in lead roles collected 11.25 Cr on its first day of release, July 6. The movie was directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Dhillin Mehta and Ajay Devgn.

9. Cocktail

Verdict : HIT

Cocktail, a romantic comedy movie collected 10.75 crore, on its release day, July 13. The movie starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Diana Penty and was produced by Saif Ali Khan, Dinesh Vijan and directed by Homi Adajania.

10. Raaz 3

Verdict : SUPERHIT

Raaz 3, a thriller movie collected 10.50 crore on its opening day, September 7. The movie featured Emraan Hashmi, Bipasa Basu, Esha Gupta in lead roles and was produced by Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt and directed by Vikram Bhatt.
