New Delhi, Dec 31 (): With the disclosure of financial irregularities in Purthi group, BJP president Nitin Gadkari is yet to be decided whether he would get a second term or not after he was targeted by anti-corruption crusader Arvind Kejriwal.
Gadkari who was alleged to be involved in financial irregularities, will be decided by the BJP whether to be selected as the party president for the second time. The party is likely to announce a fresh schedule for the organizational elections at the national level, and will be coming to a conclusion on the matter by the end of January 2013.
However, indicating that the party has no objection in selecting Gadkari for the second term, sources said chances of getting a fresh term as the party president appears to be more certain for Nitin Gadkari.
In September, the national executive that was held in Surajkund, in which the BJP almost finished all the necessary amendments in the party’s constitution had decided for a second term for Gadkari earlier.
Arvind Kejriwal’s allegations against Nitin Gadkari being involved in financial irregularities in his Purti Group, caused internal dispute among the party members including Ram Jethmalani who demanded Gadkari’s resignation.
After Kejriwal’s allegations, Gadkari faced his political career with a deep trauma as many in the political circle raised question how he got his driver, cook and near and dear ones to benefit with shareholding in his business.
Over 50 percent of the state-level party units will be completing the process paving way for the national-level elections, that might create possibilities of a fresh poll schedule for the national level which is likely to be decided within one or two months, said a party spokesman. He hinted that the bad days for the party has passed away and Nitin Gadkari will be selected as the party president for the second time.
