Mumbai, Dec 23 (): The auction of the players for the Indian Premier League (IPL),Season six has been scheduled on Feb 3 2013.
Earlier, it was announced that auction will be held on Jan 12, 2013. Sundar Raman, CEO of IPL tweeted in his micro blogging site that the auction will start on Feb 3, but the auction venue was still undecided. The representatives of franchise were informed the auction will be held in a metro city. The auction is expected to see 37 cricketers going under the hammer.
IPL Season 6 will kick-start on April 3 and the finals will be played on May 26. The first match was scheduled to play between the current champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils on April 3 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The finals of IPL 6 will be played at the same venue on May 26.
IPL 6 will be played in the same format as the earlier 2012 edition. All the nine teams will clash with each other twice at home and other venues. At the end of the league, the top four teams will qualified for play-offs.
The first qualifier and the eliminator of the play-off will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai and the second qualifier and the finals will be at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. A total number of 76 matches will be played at different venues. Eleven venues have been confirmed to host the matches.
The new name of Hyderabad franchise bought by Kalanithi Maran and Chennai-based Sun TV networks was named SunRisers, Hyderabad. Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody is appointed as the coach and former Indian captain Srikkanth is the team’s mentor. Former cricketer V.V.S. Laxman was another mentor and its brand ambassador. SunRisers has retained all 20 players of Deccan Chargers.
Rajeev Shukla, the chairman of IPL said that the countdown of the Pepsi IPL 2013 has begun.
